FAQs

I offer secure telehealth sessions for clients throughout California, and currently do not offer in-person sessions. Virtual therapy makes it easier to access support that fits into your busy life.

Online therapy works much like in-person therapy, but sessions take place virtually using a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. After scheduling an appointment, you’ll receive a private link to join our session from your computer, tablet, or smartphone. During our time together, we’ll talk just as we would in an office setting—exploring and working through your thoughts, emotions, and goals in a supportive, confidential space.
Virtual therapy offers the flexibility to attend sessions from the comfort of your home or another private location, eliminating commute time and making it easier to prioritize your mental health. As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I provide the same level of care, presence, and professionalism online as I would in person.

You can schedule a free 15-minute consultation by calling 415-508-7280, emailing aduckering@therapyinmotion.care, completing the info in the contact page, or clicking the schedule a consultation button.
This call gives us a chance to connect, answer your questions, and decide whether we’re a good fit.
After our consultation, you’ll receive access to a secure client portal where you can complete intake paperwork, manage appointments, and access billing documents.

Individual adults and youth: $250 per 50-minute session; Couples and families: $300 per 50-min session; Group therapy $75 per session.
Sliding Scale offered if necessary – rates will be discussed prior to first session.
Additional fees may be added on for extra written material, consultations with outside providers, and additional session time.
I collect payment at the time of each session, and clients must have a current credit card on file.

I do not bill insurance directly, but I can provide a monthly superbill—an itemized receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan, so I recommend checking with your insurance company to see if they offer reimbursement for out-of-network mental health services.

You are entitled to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of what the charges could be for psychotherapy services provided to you. You will receive a Good Faith Estimate if you don’t have insurance, or if you are not using insurance for psychotherapy services.
While it is not possible for a psychotherapist to know, in advance, how many psychotherapy sessions may be necessary or appropriate for a given person, this form provides an estimate of the cost of services provided. Your total cost of services will depend upon the number of psychotherapy sessions you attend, your individual circumstances, and the type and amount of services that are provided to you.
You have the right to initiate a dispute resolution process if the actual amount charged to you exceeds $400 more than the estimated charges stated in your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate or the dispute process, visit https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises/consumers or call 1- 800-985-3059. The initiation of the patient-provider dispute resolution process will not adversely affect the quality of the services furnished to you.

Absolutely. Many of my clients are leaders, caretakers, and achievers who are used to pushing through, figuring it out alone, or minimizing their own needs. Therapy can be a space just for you—a place to be human, be supported, and be yourself.
-
In our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know each other. I’ll ask questions about what brings you in, your background, and any goals you have for therapy. It’s also a chance for you to ask questions and get a feel for how I work. My goal is to create a safe, comfortable space where we can start building a trusting therapeutic relationship.

The length of therapy can vary depending on your goals, history and current challenges. Some clients see meaningful changes in a few months; others benefit from longer-term support. We’ll regularly review progress to ensure therapy continues to meet your needs.
There are multiple reasons therapy might end – goals have been met, financial challenges, moving out of state, needing a higher level of care, we aren’t a good fit, etc. Please feel free to communicate with me at anytime during our journey together if any issues/concerns arise so we can work together on a solution to ensure your needs are being met as best as possible.
The ultimate goal is for you to not need me, though the door is always open for you to return at any time should you choose to!
